Mindfulness Mondays

Mindfulness Mondays have just started recently, and I want to encourage everyone who feels that they would benefit from this to participate, and to also look into the club. It’s a very great program to help young teens with stress, and define ways to cope with it, including mindfulness.

No Mud, No Lotus

The Mindfulness Club at Harborfields High school would like to invite everyone to participate in a school wide art installation called, “No Mud, No Lotus.” This project will feature origami lotuses folded by students, faculty and staff which will be displayed in the airport at the high school.

“Booed” with Interact Club

The Interact Club was ready to make Halloween fun this year no matter what. These students filled and decorated 1,200 goody bags with non-edible Halloween trinkets. Which include, vampire rings, bubbles, spider rings, Halloween stickers and tattoos. They called it “booed WDPS and TJL.”

The Harborfields DECA Club competed on January 3, 2019 at the Regional DECA Competition at Suffolk Community College.  Students from all over Suffolk County participated in various competitions.  There were ten winners and one honorable mention winner from Harborfields this year.

GSA and National Coming Out Day

In the past, the GSA, or Gay-Straight Alliance, has been home to many discussions on sexuality, labels, acceptance, and role models. Be mindful, and join mindfulness club!

3 tests in one day, sports practice until 9, family obligations, drama with friends; us teenagers have all been there before. The stress of high school, your social life, and everything going on in what seems like a short day, can easily take over and create a negative outcome on you. Teens suffer from it daily and it seems to continue to get worse as you get older and starts to have more responsibilities. Although it would be ideal to run away from the problems we have, and escape to a lovely beach in Costa Rica and watch the waves ripple all day, the best way to overcome stress is to face it.

HF Robotics President Ben Messing Brings Club To Regionals

Three...Two...One… The metal robot springs to life, knocks over a ball, and places a foam block into a holding container. In the next two and a half minutes the robot(and it’s driver) will attempt to fill the container completely full with the foam blocks. Thirty seconds left and the robots drives onto a wobbly plate, balances, and time runs out. The round is over.

Robotics Competition

Come support our school during this years robotics competition! Hosted by FIRST, the First Relic Recovery competition will take place in just two months. Due to the increase of members in the club this year, we now have the freshman, sophomore and upper classmen teams. On January 7th, our school will be competing with other schools from around the state in the first qualifier. Located at Lynbrook High School, here teams fight for first place. Following this the second qualifier which is on the 14th, will place at Center Moriches High School. Here, teams get a second chance to win and there the official winners will be announced.
